I can’t stop laughing at this panel what’s wrong with me

YOU DO NOT UPDATE SUPERMAN’S COSTUME. THAT IS FOLLY.
Teeny tiny Superman.
Beautiful! Not just Doc’s drawing, but the costume itself. Look at the perfection in form and color and recognition! The fact that you can tell who he is with a drawing this small is not an accident.
Pretend that you didn’t know who Superman was. You can immediately tell many things about this character just from this one drawing of him. Nothing is concealed or complicated about this man. He’s strong, friendly, and goofy (though he takes himself seriously.)
The belt and the underwear help you digest the image, they separate the top from the bottom, which is useful for a fellow who can fly into the panel at any angle. Much like an acrobat, you need to see easily where his body parts separate to make sense of the beauty of his actions. He has no gloves, nothing to keep his hands from reaching out for yours. He has no mask, because he is about honesty, not mystery or brooding. His cape give him motion, even when he is still.
At one point or another, almost all of these features have been neglected or contradicted. We are in one of those times right now. They took his underwear! Haha! But, they’ve replaced it with piping and texture that is too busy and cannot reduce to an image this small. These are flawed design elements. By changing or “updating” Superman’s costume in this way, they tell us less about Superman while making artist work harder to do it. That’s silly and misguided.
Doc is great, I love his drawings! He always makes me remember that I love this great character, and his silly costume.
Look at my friend Kyle, laying down some serious knowledge about Superman’s costume.
i never knew i wanted a picture of kyle maclachlan standing next to yao ming until now
The good Dale is trapped in the lodg..holy shit look at that guy!

MYSTERIOUS TUBES of uh…MYSTERY!
It’s been 7 months since the last Nakatomi-Wide MYSTERY TUBE SALE, and people’s wounds have almost healed, and so we’re ready to go AROUND THE WHEEL OF PAIN AGAIN!
We have more tubes than ever before- about 250 already packed with a few more tubes-worth of prints waiting on stand-by…so hopefully those who want one can get one!
Starting somewhere between noon and 2pm CENTRAL TIME on TUESDAY November the 12th, we’ll have tubes for purchase for $50 each. Each tube will have 5 prints in it-all suitable for framing. Some are considered ‘scratch/dent’ in that there’s minor printing flaws or a ‘soft’ corner, but nothing that won’t frame out.
The quick and dirty is this- you’ll get 5 random prints from Nakatomi artists past and present, and a shot at some really great bonus prints for $50.
No joke, this is probably the BEST DAMN tube sale we’ve ever had. So much awesome at ONE TIME.
So, what’s in the pool of awesome that you’ll have a shot at getting this time out?
There’s 2 new prints in our ONGOING FREEBIE PRINTS SERIES, pictured below-
We’re celebrating the Good Doctor’s 50th year with this series of prints, and THIS SERIES has BEEN POPULAR, EH? (each one of those links contains evidence of flipping past prints in this series…Warning!) Each of these 9×24 prints will be signed and numbered by the artist, and will ONLY be available through this tube sale! The prints are in editions of 150, and each will also have a variant metallic gold edition of 20.
You are welcome to buy as many tubes as you want- you will receive a copy of one of the exclusive print in each tube. One tube per order- we cannot combine shipping- as we can only fit 5 prints in each tube!
We’ve got Test Sheets!-
Test Sheets! We’re randomly inserting a totally awesome and unique test-sheet with orders! A test sheet is like 4 posters flying at your optic nerve at ONCE! Truly a byproduct of the Silk-screen process, we run screens on scrap paper as we’re working on a project, and what you get is a random collage of color building up on a sheet of paper, until we judge that it’s ‘done’ and throw it on our stack of test sheets! There’s an awful lot of the TOTALLY UNSEEN Unreal Estate 3′s screens that were in this crop- think of it as a preview of next year’s show! FYI- no tube will have more than ONE test sheet in it, if at all!
EXCLUSIVES!- stuff only available in THIS TUBE SALE!-
A super-rare edition of ONLY 3 ‘Shark V. Octopus’ Lineart prints-
And an edition of 20 Line Art variants of “The Exodus of Turtleton”!
The above prints have NEVER been available for sale before and are ONLY available through this tube sale, and will NEVER be for sale in the future! Printed on super-nice French Paper, these are signed and numbered by Doyle.
6 Original pen and ink line art pieces by Doyle, used for movie posters, CD art, and art prints! That’s the original art for LOGAN’S RUN over there, fyi!
BONUS CRAZY TOWN WHAT THE HELL? STUFF
WHAAAAT?- we’re including printer’s copies of Alexander Iaccarino’s Cowboy Bebop prints! We have 4 regulars, 2 Metallic Variants, and 2 LineArt variants- each of these are tracking anywhere from $250-$600 each on the aftermarket. (which is nuts!)
We scored these from an ex-Mondo employee who was downsizing his collection, and we’re throwing them into the sale:
Jay Ryan’s 2001, Burlesque’s King Kong, Jesse Philips’ Fistful of Dollars, and Yann Legendre’s Terminator!
Good friend of Nakatomi, Jacob Borshard was the printer on Olly Moss’ Life Well Wasted series, and as a thank you for the use of our shop, he gave us this 1/1 metallic foil variant print, which has sat undisplayed for years in our flat-file, so we’re releasing it into the wild to hopefully find a good home!
AND- DUN DUN DUUUUN!
A copy of Tyler Stout’s 24×36 LOST BOYS print from 2007!
This is only a small selection of what’s going in these tubes, with plenty more surprises!
With all this awesome, your odds of striking gold are PRETTY DANG GOOD. Please note- these tubes are blind-packed, and we have no idea what prints are in what tubes at this point!
5 prints, $50- you can knock off gifts for 5 people all at once, letting you cruise into birthday/holiday/apocalypse season with no worries!
Get your clicky fingers ready- we’ve never had a Nakatomi tube sale NOT sell out- we’re being a little more ambiguous about the drop time, as we’ve had massive server issues during these high-demand drops before, and we’re trying to cut down on that here. But as always- it’s going to be a slog getting through check-out once word spreads that these are up for sale. Trust us- we’ll do what we can, but it’s rarely enough.
We will put these up for sale at a random time between noon and 2pm Central Time on Tuesday 11/12- and then tweet the sale link a few minutes later. You can follow Tim Doyle on twitter HERE.
